On a beautiful, sunny, Saturday morning, Buddy and Friends Animal Rescue, located at 275 Oak St, Pembroke held an open house that featuring, music, food trucks, pet-related vendors, games for the kids, and of course, a host of friendly furry friends ready to be adopted. The primary objective was to raise awareness of their services but that didn't stop everyone from having a good time.
The air was filled with the laughter of happy children, an occasional bark from the guests of honor and music provided by DJ James Hill (AKA DJ Buckets).
Volunteers manned several booths and provided information about adopting and or fostering a rescue dog. Some sold pet food and even handed out information on pet health insurance. Scattered around the grounds were all types of adorable dogs.

Visitors were allowed inside for a tour of the facility. Both indoor and outdoor and spaces for the dogs were clean and spacious. Volunteer staff were available to answer any questions about adopting, fostering and volunteering at the shelter. Cat Morris, the shelter director, talked about volunteer programs for persons with special needs.

But the true stars of the day were the dogs. Some were waiting to be adopted/fostered, while others were just there enjoying the day with their owners. They were all well behaved and friendly.

It was a great day for dogs and visitors alike. People got to enjoy a fun, family-friendly summer activity and learn about the needs of these wonderful animals.
All the hard work paid off as two dogs, Sam and Nadia, were adopted on Saturday. Events Coordinator Regina Polito wanted to thank all that attended, donated and supported the rescue, especially those that helped when a rescue dog, Finn, a pit mix, had a medical emergency. Finn is now making a full recovery!
Buddy & Friends Animal Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, all-volunteer organization based in Pembroke, MA. They rely solely on the backbone, their rescue team which is fosters and volunteers. They exist to rescue and re-home unwanted dogs.
