Everyone born before 1995 remembers where they were on September 11, 2001. Whether at work, school, in your car, or just near a radio or television, the day left an indelible mark on our country's collective memory.
The Pembroke Community Services Department will be hosting a 9/11 memorial service on Friday, September 11, starting at 9:45 am at the Community Center Bandstand on the Town Green. Supporting this event will be the Pembroke Police and Fire Departments, and the American Legion, Post 143. Flags will be placed on the Green by the Scouts "in honor of every firefighter and police officer who gave their life in the line of duty on September 11, 2001".
Hard to believe it has been 25 years since that day arguably changed the United States forever. Over 3,000 people died that day alone and countless others suffered the loss of friends, loved ones, or their health. Among those most heavily impacted were first responders, especially police and fire fighters.
