The 4th of July celebrations have ended and summer is in full swing. The Pembroke Public Schools hope you enjoy your time off and are also preparing for the 2026-2027 school year. Supply lists, summer reading assignments, camps and other resources are available to help students start the year off strong.

PHS Yearbook Information
Attention Class of 2027- It’s picture time! Portraits for inclusion in the 2027 yearbook must be taken this summer. By now, all seniors should have received a detailed instruction letter about their class pictures. Clear guidelines about everything from proper dress to “props” are included. Information about Legacy, the official yearbook photographer, as well as a listing for other local professionals, is provided. Instructions for picture submission are clearly explained. Summer Reading - Pembroke High School
PHS students are urged to check the school's website for information about course specific summer reading. Genre Studies, American Literature and most AP courses have reading assignments. Most offer a variety of options which should be completed before school starts.
Band Camp
Marching band members, mark your calendars for Marching Band Camp, August 10-14, from 9 to 3 at the high school. Check the school website for updates.

Summer Reading - PCMS
A comprehensive nine-page summer reading packet for Pembroke Community Middle School can be found on the PCMS website. Students are encouraged to choose one of the suggested books, but may read a book of their own choosing provided it is age/grade appropriate, complex enough to allow the student to answer the required questions, and relates to the summer reading theme: One World, Many Stories. Additionally, students whose first language is not English are allowed to read a book in their first language as long as it meets the guidelines listed above. A translation of one of the suggested books is also acceptable.
Included in the packet are summaries of the suggested books along with additional review sites so that parents and students can make an informed decision about summer reading. Three categories of books are suggested including five fiction books, five nonfiction, and six graphic novels. Among the choices are a young reader edition of “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind,” graphic novel versions of “The Iliad” and “The Odyssey” and “The Lost Year.”
Supply Lists
The Pembroke School Department has published a comprehensive supply list for the 2026-2027 school year. Everything needed for students to arrive prepared and ready to learn is listed. Supply lists for Pembroke Elementary schools and Pembroke Community Middle School are on the schools' websites. The high school does not have a general supply list; students will be told what is needed by the instructor during the first few days of school.
Hoop Time
Boys Basketball Camp was held this past week, but there is still time for girls entering grades 3 to 9 to attend Girls Basketball Camp. From August 6-9 at Pembroke HS, girls will learn how to improve their basketball skills. For additional information, contact Brian Balasco at Bbalasco16@gmail.com.
