The Pembroke Citizen Journal (PCJ) celebrated its official launch with a Trivia Night Launch party on Friday, Oct. 23 at the Pembroke Community Center. The free event drew approximately 75 guests who spent the first half hour socializing, forming their trivia teams and enjoying delicious food donated by several Pembroke restaurants. Founder and President Kathleen Keegan presented a series of slides showcasing the evolution, progress and future goals of this new local online newspaper. Soon after the fun began, as Mike Corkren, emcee for the night, asked a series of 16 trivia questions based on the town of Pembroke. Half-time bonus questions were added that really tested the guests' knowledge of Pembroke history.

Nevertheless, "Abby's Team" won, answering all questions correctly. The winners received the Grand Prize — gift cards generously donated by Alumni Sports Cafe and Christina's restaurant. Door prizes were also donated by the Candy Jar and the Big Y.

The event's goal was to get the word out and generate interest in PCJ, our free online Pembroke town newspaper. Judging by the guests' response, it was a success and the interest was unanimous. The journal, currently run by an all-volunteer team, would like to expand by generating more advertising dollars to hire several paid staff members.

The staff at PCJ thank the generous restaurants and donors who contributed to the event. Their support is greatly appreciated. Please consider them in your next shopping and dining excursions:
