American Legion Post 143 in Pembroke opened its doors to the public for a cookout that included good food, raffles, games and delicious deserts. Vice Commander Kathleen Keegan served as the master of ceremonies, organizing the corn hole tournament and raffles.
Located at the Bryantville Meeting house, behind the old Pembroke Fire House at 32 School Street, Post 143 continued to show it's dedication to the community. Over fifty veterans, their families and local residents enjoyed an evening of fellowship and food. Veterans across several wars told stories about their pasts and caught up with old friends.
The grill was smoking with hot dogs, burgers and sausage while a variety of cold sides including both green and pasta salad, beans and corn on the cobs stretched across a banquet table inside. Desert was pot luck and attendees answered the call with cookies, cupcakes, carrot cake and a creamy chocolate trifle.
Good food and raffles for all.
Outside, children played corn hole and adults gathered around the fire pit. Everyone seemed to be having a great time.
The kids had fun playing corn hole while the post commander and his vice commander relaxed by the fire pit.
