Pet of the Week, August 7, 2026

Meet Jocko Spartacus.

This is our Jocko Spartacus! He is our two year-old English Labrador. Our baby loves going on boat rides, watching the sunrise in the morning, playing with his favorite toy “ The Wubble”, going fishing -which is basically walking the waters edge, searching for fish and prancing and jumping at them, and constantly being by his family side, cuddling up and feeling safe! He is a great greeter to all the boats, kayakers, paddle boarders, and anyone who comes by our house. He will run out to the edge of the dock and bark to say hello, and he loves when he gets the attention of the passersby! The past two years have gone by so quickly since we got him as a baby so hope the rest of his life goes by a little bit slower. The love he gives us and the joy he brings into our hearts is something we never want to live without! Submitted by Pembroke resident Pamela Swenson

Buddy and Friends Animal Rescue Weekly Fosters

This is Lobstah Roll.

Lobstah Roll is Buddy and Friends Adoption of the week.

Meet Lobstah Roll!

Lobstah Roll is a 40-pound Shepherd/Husky mix with a big personality, a sharp mind, and a playful spirit. Born on 1/1/2026, this handsome boy is looking for an active family that will help him continue learning, exploring, and making the most of everything life has to offer.

His foster describes him as tall, goofy, super intelligent, and friendly, and we couldn't agree more. Lobstah Roll loves being part of the action and enjoys spending time with both his people and his canine friends. Whether he's carrying around a favorite toy, playing fetch, going for a walk, or joining the family on an adventure, he's happiest when he's included.

Lobstah Roll is great with other dogs and enjoys both playtime and companionship. He takes cues well from the dogs around him and has done well with dogs of different sizes. He has also been around young children and has done well, though he can occasionally get excited and jump up, which his foster has been working on.

This boy is always ready for fun. He loves squeaky toys, antlers, car rides, walks, swimming, and playing fetch. He recently discovered how much he enjoys the water and happily ran right into a lake for a swim. While he enjoys being close to his people, he's not necessarily a velcro dog or constant cuddler. Instead, he's often content relaxing nearby with a toy or stretched out on his favorite dog bed.

Lobstah Roll is doing very well with house training, crate training, and leash walking. He sleeps through the night in his crate, settles nicely during the day, and has only minimal accidents when kept on a consistent routine. He is eager to learn, food motivated, and already understands several household expectations, though he will benefit from continued training and structure.

As a young Shepherd/Husky mix, Lobstah Roll is both athletic and intelligent. His ideal home will provide regular exercise, mental enrichment, and continued training opportunities. He enjoys learning and thrives when given appropriate outlets for his energy and curiosity.

Potential adopters should also be aware that Lobstah Roll has a noticeable prey drive. He is very alert outdoors and enjoys scanning his surroundings. He will need continued training, supervision, and responsible leash management as he continues to mature. He has not been tested with cats.

Lobstah Roll is a wonderful combination of fun, intelligence, loyalty, and personality. He has all the makings of an incredible companion for an active family willing to invest in his continued growth and training.

All of our dogs are up to date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and on preventatives.
