Natural Wonders at the Pembroke Public Library

Natural Wonders at the Pembroke Public Library

The Pembroke Public Library is thrilled to be a recipient of the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s Creative Experiences Grant! In its very first year, this new grant program awarded Pembroke Library one of its maximum, $5,000 prizes for the in-house series, “Natural Wonders.” The mission of “Natural Wonders” is to promote environmental awareness and conservation by encouraging members of the Pembroke community to explore biodiversity in their own backyards. Every event and program featured in the series helps library patrons of all ages discover a new appreciation for nature by highlighting everything from complex underground root systems to cute and furry herbivores.

Thanks to this grant, we have so many fun and educational programs planned for this summer, including classes on foraging, gardening, beekeeping, Angora wool spinning, and even a walkthrough butterfly exhibit! Learn more about some of our upcoming events or visit www.pembrokepubliclibrary.org/calendar for a complete calendar.

The Massachusetts Cultural Council believes experiences rich in the arts, humanities, and/or sciences elevate the quality of life and well-being of all communities. Creative Experiences offers grants to organizations (including schools) to fund festivals, projects, residencies, and other cultural activities. With this grant, we will be able to offer our “Natural Wonders” series which will comprise a total of 11 programs for children, teens, adults, and all ages, with an estimated total attendance of over 500. On behalf of the Pembroke Public Library, I want to thank the Massachusetts Cultural Council for making this fun and educational series a reality for the Pembroke Community!
